Review:

I think I said it best in a tweet I sent last week when I finished reading MENDING HEARTSTRINGS:

“A story I wanted to just keep going, with characters I’d like to see again!” @ariaglazki MENDING HEARTSTRINGS http://amzn.to/1FRt8vm”

I must admit at first it kind of felt like work, but the more I read the more the story settled into a real-life romance instead of the perfect HEA with ideal gorgeous women and knight-in-shining armor men. Things seemed like they’d be going great and then BAM, something out of left field would throw the couple off. Kane is fearful that someone wants to tie their horse to his country music star wagon. Sabella, or Bella as Kane calls her, or Sab as her best friend Gina calls her, is one beautiful but tough cookie wrapped in a short, average body. I like the idea that girls of all sizes can read this and dream that they can have their own romance story. With Sabella and Kane, fear kept creeping in where love was meant to take hold, and we’re taken on a ride to see that, as long as you stay in the game, love can always replace that fear. Add a handful of funny and interesting characters, such as Gina the ‘colorful’ bestie, or Bobby, the flirty colt in Kane’s band, and you’ve got a lot of lighthearted moments and a current ancillary story as well. Both Sabella and Kane were closed off…mainly for the same reason of being broken hearted. They were constantly finding ways to push each other away in their heads to finally come to the conclusion that perhaps it’s best to follow their hearts and “jump off the cliff together”. Guys don’t ride in on white stallions, but they really do, even though it only looks like a gourmet breakfast or replacing locks in a jiffy. Add a tiny crack in the brick wall of her pragmatism that affords a loving woman a reason to stay put and fight for a man that’s worth waiting for…well that’s Kane and Bella, and we get to tag along to witness them mending their heartstrings.

I loved it!

Author Information

Aria’s writing story started when her seventh-grade English teacher encouraged her to submit a class assignment for publication.  That piece was printed, and let’s just say, she was hooked!

Since then, Aria has run a literary magazine, earned her degree in Creative Writing (as well as in French and Russian literatures), and been published in a few collections.  Though her first kiss technically came from a bear cub, and no fairytale transformation followed, Aria still believes magic can happen when the right people come together – if they don’t get in their own way, that is.

Other than all things literary, Aria loves spending time with her family, including her two unbearably adorable nieces. She also dabbles in painting, dancing, playing violin, and, given the opportunity, Epicureanism.

Hiya & Happy Halloween!

It’s time for Susanna Leonard Hill’s 4th Annual Halloweensie Contest– YAY! This is my second year entering and it’s so much fun! I’m happy to let y’all know that I’m alive and well…it’s been so long since I’ve posted any written pieces, that I’m a wee bit chicken.

If you haven’t visited to read the contest entries written for children, I urge you to do it with your family. They will entertain you for hours!

Entries can be funny, scary or anything in between, poetry or prose, but they must have 100 words or less, AND contain the words: broomstick, creak and pumpkin.

Me, I’m going with a poem again. I hope you enjoy it. :0)

A WARLOCK’S BREW

The attic creaked, as the young warlock sneaked,

to snatch up a broomstick, while baby bats squeaked.

His mission? To whip up a strong magic brew.

He added a pumpkin, a kitten’s mew too.

Stirring the potion, he conjured the spell,

letting loose in the night his most frightening yell,

“Break this feuding witches’ curse.

They fight all the time. I don’t know which witch is worse.

Last time, they vanished. No witch was found.

Tonight’s All Hallow’s Eve, and I want them around!

Sure, they’re both ruthless, rotten, and bad.

But they’re the best grandmas this boy’s ever had!”

I am so excited I’m doing a happy dance in my tiara, waving my wand…Okay, you get the idea.

My friend and fellow writer, Aria Glazki, has her first novel coming out with Swoon Romance in December 2014!

We met doing a blogflash challenge a few years ago. I don’t know if I’ve even mentioned this to Aria, but her profile picture (above) always made me think that I was good friends with the Little Mermaid!

In 2013, our poems were included in the anthology, Scripting Change- Seeing Past Sickness, where 100 percent of the profits were donated to a scholarship foundation. In fact, there’s still time to contribute to this year’s anthology: Opening Worlds with Words. Please take a look and consider donating a written work.

So this is it…the BIG cover reveal for Aria Glazki’s, MENDING HEARTSTRINGS. I’m thrilled to show it off to y’all….

Mending Heartstrings by Aria Glazki
Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: December 2nd 2014
Genres: Adult, Romance

Synopsis:

Kane’s a country singer who’s tangled with too many deceitful women. He’s learned his lesson: girls are for flirting and fun; emotions are for his music. But after spending a night with an earnest woman unlike any he’s known, he can’t force her out of his mind. So he goes in search of the woman he knows only as “Elle.”On her last night in Nashville, the staunchly pragmatic Sabella found herself in a situation more suited to a romance novel than reality. Swept away, she ignored her rigidly self-imposed rules, succumbing to the fantasy just this once. But she knows real-world relationships have nothing in common with their fictionalized portrayals. When Kane unexpectedly shows up at her Portland apartment, she must choose between the practical truths she has learned and the desire for a passionate love she has struggled to suppress.

Despite the distance, Kane’s tour schedule, and their meddling friends, both are drawn to the chance for a romance neither quite believes is possible.
