Exclusive Teaser!
Farrell was oblivious to the effect of his actions as he lost all sense of reason. He leapt over the sofa, grabbed Joshua’s neck and threw him into the fireplace on the other side of the room. Puffs of dust erupted from the marble surround as one of the hearth stones cracked. Joshua had little time to recover before Farrell launched himself and landed with both feet on Joshua’s spine.
A loud snap bounced off the walls and Jasna cried out in horror. Farrell was not swayed by the commotion, not even when Erika wailed in distress, calling his name. He pressed his advantage; grabbing Joshua’s hair, he began to repeatedly slam his head into the marble slabs of the hearth. What Farrell underestimated was Joshua’s powers of recovery. He was so blinded by his rage, Joshua was easily able to unseat him; he bucked his body, twisted around and using both hands, shoved against Farrell’s chest as hard as he could.
Farrell landed in the centre of the room on his backside, winded but unhurt. By the time he’d got to his feet, Joshua was upright and facing him. They began to circle around, each foot carefully placed – it would have looked like a graceful choreographed dance were it not for the snarls ripped from the men’s throats – their eyes never leaving the others’.
Joshua, using his considerable talents, knew they were being observed from another room and was careful not to strike back at his nemesis. As the circling continued an idea occurred to him; he grinned at Farrell, took two steps back then vanished. The look of confusion on Farrell’s face amused Joshua and he couldn’t resist a chuckle.
Farrell howled his frustration then let rip. “Show yourself, coward! You know you can’t beat me so you resort to tricks? What sort of immortal are you? You think this makes you look more of a man than me? Show yourself and take your punishment – you know you deserve it. You need to learn who’s boss around here, neophyte. SHOW YOURSELF!” he thundered the last.
“Ha!” Joshua whispered in Farrell’s ear, derisively. Farrell spun round lashing out with his fists, but found nothing. His head whipped back and forth looking for any sign of his opponent, little realising Joshua was lounging casually on the sofa behind him, a slightly smug expression on his face.
Farrell turned in a slow circle and finally spotted him. The expression on Joshua’s face coupled with the little trick he’d just pulled added a detonator to the explosives. With an animalistic roar he launched toward Joshua . . .
Now I really can’t wait for HEART SEARCH:FOUND!
